New Ending for Celerity, May 2025

That little voice in my head kept nagging at me that the ending of Celerity wasn’t right. After I moved to Florida in February, I got to work rewriting it. I love the ending now. It is a major change in the story. I just published it on Amazon today, and by May 9th, it should be available. The copyright page will say Second Edition.

The invasive species…is us

As Earth teeters on the edge of environmental collapse, the President creates a new cabinet position, the Secretary of Conservation, and appoints an old friend, an obscure park ranger—who is also the world’s most elusive eco-terrorist.

Jacket Copy:
Humanity teeters on the precipice of environmental collapse. The planet bears the scars of exponential warming, rampant pollution, and the ominous specter of mass extinctions on land and sea. Drought, wildfires, flooding, and storms wreak havoc, while the dire consequences of poverty and starvation deepen. As Earth’s systems spiral towards irreversible decline, the President of the United States makes an audacious move, appointing an unlikely ally, an obscure park ranger, as the new Secretary of Conservation. Unbeknownst to the world, he is not only an outsider but harbors a clandestine identity—the most elusive and hunted eco-terrorist. In this high-stakes drama, bold solutions collide with personal secrets as the appointed savior grapples with a mission that blurs the lines between salvation and subversion, raising profound questions about the cost of preservation in a world on the brink.

CONGRESSIONAL SELECT SUBCOMMITTEE ON UNIDENTIFIED AERIAL PHENOMENON

The Congressional Select Subcommittee for the Investigation of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena was held at the 390 Cannon House Office Building in Washington, DC. Often referred to as the “Old House Office Building”, it was designed in Beaux-Arts style of architecture featuring formal symmetry of Italian Renaissance form with columns, pediments, and balustrades and was completed in 1908. A tunnel connects the Cannon House to the Capitol building. The wall of the large meeting room had twenty-foot-tall windows covered with gray and brown curtains. From the ceiling hung two enormous chandeliers. At the front of the room was a semi-circular seating area where the nine Congresspeople sat.
“So what, in your expert opinion, Professor Hawker, are these UAPs?” Congressman Sargrass, the Chairperson of the Subcommittee, asked.
Jack Issac Hawker, late thirties, had dark hair, adjusted his microphone, cleared his throat, took a sip of water, cleared his throat again, and said. “Electromagnetic phenomenon originating from Earth, radar malfunction, drones of foreign countries, test equipment, light refraction, many other things. But not alien in origin.”
“Uh-huh. So no alien beings flying over Wrigley Field or one of our aircraft carriers?”
“I think if some organic alien being had entered our atmosphere, it would make itself known, don’t you?”
“I agree, like the take me to your leader deal.”
“Something like that.”
“And that sure hasn’t happened.”
“Not to my knowledge.”
“What did you say, electro-refraction?”
Hawker nodded to his associate sitting in the crowd, who held up a device that looked like a small remote control. A hologram of a spacecraft similar to the Starship Enterprise appeared in the hologram between Hawker and the Subcommittee.
“This life-like craft is made of a low-cost helium-neon laser.” The associate flew it around the room then, landed it on the desk in front of the chairman, then zoomed it to the ceiling, and it hovered.
“But looks real, and if you saw it at night—“
“—It would freak you out,” Congressman Sargrass said.
“Yes, sir, probably would,” Hawker said.
“And another UFO sighting.”

Sentient AI

The most important question about #AI is what happens when an AI becomes sentient and self-aware. I address this in fiction. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1734147342/

But it will be a reality and the most crucial event in human history.

Speaker of the House – Nancy Pelosi

I have had some inquiries today about my fictional political thriller American Mutt https://scottfalcon.com/americanmutt/ that begins with the kidnapping of the Speaker. I do not condone political violence. It is fiction, not a manual for vigilante action. #SpeakeroftheHouse #NancyPelosi

Net Galley Review of THRESHOLD

Anthony CHERRIER has just reviewed Threshold on Net Galley June 4, 2021

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Full Text:
I would like to thank Rand Wilde Media and the Netgalley website for allowing me to read this book.

The story takes place in California in Ventura in 2040 where we find Becca Wilde, an autistic woman who is terminally ill. One day she will feel a presence, a kind of intelligence in the STREAM created by her father. It is a kind of entertaining virtual reality.

She will immediately think that this famous intelligence will be able to create a remedy, as for her father, he intends to use the new technologies except that it will stop working, everything is upside down, no more internet, no more cars, no more screens, just one thing that works, a mutant Russian artificial intelligence in the wild.

Will Becca be able to communicate with this A.I. and hold the key to the future?

I was immediately hooked on the story, which is so moving at times, gripping, captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with very engaging characters. I love the author’s writing.
